BISNISREAL.COM, BATAM – Wednesday March 19,2025 “In a significant step towards realizing the Batam, Rempang, Galang (Barelang) Transmigration Area development plan, the Indonesian government, under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Kemenko IPK), has distributed 68 Land Ownership Certificates (SHM) to residents of Tanjung Banur, Rempang. This event, held at the Batam Development Authority office, marks a pivotal moment in the government’s commitment to enhancing economic growth and national development through the Barelang Economic Transmigration Area.
The distribution of these certificates underscores the government’s dedication to providing legal certainty for land ownership, particularly for those affected by relocation efforts. This initiative is a core component of a broader strategy to transform the Barelang region into a thriving economic hub.
Minister of Transmigration, Iftitah Sulaiman, emphasized the importance of this distribution in supporting the Barelang transmigration program. “We are committed to ensuring that the people of Rempang receive their full rights. This distribution of SHM is a tangible manifestation of the Central and Regional Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of the community,” he stated.
Further elaborating, the Ministry of Transmigration has coordinated with the Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas) regarding the designation of the Barelang transmigration area. A Ministerial Decree on Transmigration will be issued, and the development of Barelang Transmigration will be incorporated into the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) as a review by Bappenas, solidifying its role in national development.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, AHY, highlighted the crucial synergy between the ministries under Kemenko IPK’s coordination to expedite land certification in the transmigration area. “The appreciation of the Minister of Transmigration, which is so clear and comprehensive, brings optimism about the transformation of transmigration that is very welcome so that it prospers all. The plan to establish the Barelang transmigration area, we want to continue to oversee local transmigration. This is the mandate of the President so that the Riau Islands are more advanced, the people are more prosperous and can be equal to neighboring countries,” AHY stressed.
The Barelang Transmigration Area is a priority program aimed at developing border regions and improving community welfare. This program is expected to generate new employment opportunities, boost investment, and accelerate economic development in the Barelang region.
