BISNISREAL.COM, JAKARTA, Indonesia – Wednesday March 19,2025 In a significant move to bolster rural tourism and community empowerment, Esa Unggul University and the Ministry of Transmigration have announced a collaborative partnership. The initiative, spearheaded by Vice Minister of Transmigration Viva Yoga Mauladi and Rector of Esa Unggul University Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, aims to develop the potential of 61 tourism villages located within transmigration areas across Indonesia.

The collaboration will focus on various aspects, including student internships, community service programs (KKN), and the comprehensive development of these tourism villages. With a diverse range of themes, including agro-tourism, cultural experiences, educational tours, mountain retreats, culinary adventures, river expeditions, and coastal getaways, these villages offer a wealth of opportunities for both local communities and visitors.

“We are very excited about this partnership,” stated Vice Minister Viva Yoga Mauladi. “By combining the academic expertise of Esa Unggul University with the on-the-ground knowledge of our ministry, we can create sustainable and impactful tourism experiences that benefit local communities.”

The development plan includes providing training to transmigrant residents in various areas, such as tourism skills, micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) development, legal awareness, and other relevant knowledge. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure that the tourism development not only attracts visitors but also empowers the local population.

Rector Arief Kusuma Among Praja emphasized the university’s commitment to contributing to national development. “Esa Unggul University is dedicated to providing our students with real-world experiences and contributing to the betterment of society,” he said. “This partnership allows us to combine our academic resources with practical applications, creating a win-win situation for everyone involved.”

The partnership is set to be implemented promptly, with the goal of creating tangible improvements in the lives of transmigrant residents and contributing to the growth of Indonesia’s tourism sector.
