BISNISREAL.COM, ANYER BANTEN – Thursday November 20,2025 In the bustling city of Tangerang, an inspiring tale of community and enduring solidarity has been unfolding for over three decades. This is the story of Paguyuban Rantau Karyawan Sragen, or the PRAKARSA Community, a regional association that has reached a remarkable age of 31 years, symbolizing maturity and resilience for a non-profit organization.
The community’s roots trace back to a simple need for connection among people from Sragen, Central Java, who migrated for work at the same company in Tangerang. According to Mr. Agus Purwanto, one of the founders and the first-generation Chairman, the association began taking shape in 1994 and became fully operational in 1995. Today, Mrs. Hj. Anik Barokah serves as the Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairperson for 2025, continuing the legacy.
PRAKARSA’s vision is rooted in noble purpose: to maintain connections (silaturahmi) among people from their home region. To achieve this, they host monthly gatherings featuring an arisan (social saving group) and manage a Savings and Loans Cooperative named KOPERASI PRAKARSA—the financial and social backbone of the community.
Mr. Dwi Sunarni noted that while the initial membership of 25 people has decreased to 13, the commitment remains high. The association faced a temporary hiatus, or fakum, between 2018 and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, yet their determination to rebuild their activities was unwavering.
Mrs. Anik Barokah emphasizes that the key to their long-term sustainability is simply maintaining brotherhood and connections. They hold an optimistic view that this spirit of kinship will naturally pass down to the members’ children’s generation.
The most crucial regular event is the monthly meeting, which rotates between members’ homes, fostering a strong sense of shared ownership. Furthermore, once a year, the community organizes a Family Tour or Vacation. Their travel destinations have been varied and memorable, including Taman Kebon Raya Bogor, TMIIN, and their most recent trip on November 16, 2025, to Sambolo 2 Anyer Beach in Serang, Banten.
During an interview at Sambolo 2 Beach, Mr. Sugimanto, a dedicated member for over 30 years, expressed his pride and happiness, noting that the association has brought many positive things to his family, including his children, Salsa (15) and Rizsky (23).
The PRAKARSA Community is a powerful testament to local wisdom (kearifan lokal) that nurtures solidarity among regional families. It is an inspirational example of empathy, strong family values, and an optimistic outlook in a land far from home.
